2018 Round 1 Nightmasters

Firstly, We would like to thank our amazing advertising partners, we welcome back Rightway Industral, MCE Motorsports and Bridgestone.  In 2018 Boilertronics, Aleabrax Systems, Word of Mouth Signs and JGC Accounting and Financial Services join the list.  For more about these companies please visit our sponsors page on this website.  JGC Accounting and Financial Services has naming rights for the Jurior Competition ... Watch this space as the JGC Accounting and Financial Services Junior Competition will be the last 4 races of the season.

The 2018 saloon car season got of too ripping start in warm conditions with 26 starters, 12 new models and 14 olds.

The season got of a bad start for Chris Lillis with a blown tyre and a puncture one the way to the track and it just kept getting worse as the night wore on, one of those days where mowing the lawn at home may have been a better option.

Good to see the return of Brett Williams, Glenn Crankshaw, Paul Frost, Damo Stephens, Jarrod and Garry McCulloch and Neil Streatfield all getting a few laps in before our V8 round.

Big fields this year with 3 more AU's in the wings for upcoming rounds and several of last year’s regulars missing. Don't forget to get your deposits in for a spot on the grid V8 weekend.

Qualifying saw Matty Martin take the early lead on the time sheets only to see his team mate steal pole by a slim .03 of a second in the dying laps giving team purple a front row lock out. All the hard gym work is paying off for Matt. EA/VN young gun Brandon Sharpe also having a great start to the season with his first pole in his short saloon career, looks like more to come from him in the future.

Race 1 saw the two Martin Engineering rockets take off and never look back with Grant pushed hard by Matt all the way. The PMX Camper VN of Brandon Sharpe took up where he left of on qualifying and was never headed in a great drive from Nick Hanlon and Mark Jones.

Several retirements in race 1 with Ric Gill, Paul Frost, Brad Boley and Justin “Champ” Chaffey swapping paint putting JC out with a lot of damage, Terry De Sylva showing his feminine side by jumping into the pink MCE Motorsport VN and being told by wife not scratch it then promptly going out and backing it into the wall hard, he made it a lot easier to park now as it is a foot narrower, Terry escaped unhurt as did marbles Murphy traveling close behind who had a high speed run down the grass with plenty of air under him a one stage.

Race 2 again saw a purple haze as Grant and Matt disappeared down the road again to lead everyone home, Nick turning the tables on Brandon in the early's.  Races 3 reverse grid had Grant come from P6 to get the hat trick with Travis Sharpe running a close second and younger brother Brandon beating home Mark Jones for the olds. All in all, a good night at the track, big thanks to guys and gals in MCE Motorsport shed for a good feed. Entries for Collie need to be looked at soon, only two week till round 2.

So, until Collie stay on the black stuff
